How much does is cost:

$275 total.

$100 due with permission form.

Why does it cost $275:

We go with an organization called Youthworks, and we pay Youthworks $248 per person going.  Youthworks is the organization we have used for the past 4 years on the Jr. High mission trip and they do a excellent job.  The $248 Youthworks charges goes towards housing, food, youthwork salaries and other misc. items.  It is one of the lowest priced mission trip organizations available.

Is there fundraising available?

Yes!  Students may sell Happenings Books, participate in youth bake sales at Calvary Lutheran Church on November 22 and December 13, and work the Golden Valley days pancake breakfast on May 22.  Contact Melanie if you would like to participate in any of these.

Can my child leave for a game, or spend the night at home?

No.  Please treat this trip as though we are not in St. Paul but as though we were four hours away.  The reason why students can’t come and go is because everyday from morning until night is filled with important experiences and leaving during one of them students will not experience everything the mission trip has to offer them.  Also, it helps them to focus on the mission trip if they don’t have to worry about leaving for this or that.

Where do they stay:

Youthworks sets up our housing.  They don’t know the exact location of the mission trip yet, but it will be a church in the St. Paul area.  Safety is a big factor for Youthworks and they would not have us house anywhere where it is not safe.

What will they be doing:

We will be partnering with local ministries and serving children, homeless people and the elderly in the St. Paul area.  Some of the organizations we will be working with is Boys and Girls club, Jesus Delivers and Nursing Homes.
